Under the name "Ruth Lewis', he and his band's accompanied the legendary premiere of the " Dreigroschenoper "at Berlin's Theater am Schiffbauerdamm. Rüth Ludwig (1889-1941) left his mark on jazz and dance music in Germany for about a decade. 1937 he had to leave his home to marry his Jewish wife. He died in 1941 in emigration in Durban (South Africa).
None of the approximately 400 records, which he had recorded since 1928 - except the songs from the plays of Brecht and Weill - have not been republished.
This CD presents, for the first (and so far only) time, a section of his work.
