Long before PACIFIQUE was 'born', the two brothers, Stéphane and Christophe DESPRES, had the dream of dedicating themselves to what they loved most: the Music! Christophe is getting more and more into playing the piano, then changing to bass and double bass. Together, they are touring with various bands in night clubs and discos, mainly in the area of Toulouse, in the south of France. Then they met Mario RAMSAMY in a studio, where he was working on a commercial. None of them knew at the time that Mario was going to trigger their future career ... Discovering their mutual passion for music, they quickly became close friends and decided to even get closer by forming a new band which they named IMAGES. This turned out to be an important step for all of them: in 1986, they were in the charts for several months and even had a No.1 position with their unforgettable hit 'Les Démons de minuit'. Not too bad to start with… But some friendships are not bound to last forever: after various disagreements and disputes, Christophe decided to leave the band in order to give birth to his own, new idea: PACIFIQUE ! Christophe and Stéphane were joined by CATHY, a gifted singer whose gorgeous body sheltered a wonderful voice. She met the two brothers in a recording studio and added her name and voice on the first 45 RPM entitled 'Sur les ailes des alizes' which was highly esteemed by the public, a real break through! In 1989, PACIFIQUE boomed the sales-charts: with 'Quand tu serres mon corps' they went straight No.1! Their first album was awarded gold: 'Disque d'Or'. The success was huge and they were invited to all major Radio & TV-Shows. The following year, they picked up on the previous success when releasing 'Sans un remords'. The whole nation fell in love with CATHY for the second time. Some new titles were composed, recorded and united on the next album, which was brought out in 1993. Yet, PACIFIQUE split up shortly after, putting an end to this special adventure. The three artists, still ambitious and full of music, started solo careers. While CATHY's album is scheduled for release in 2003, the DESPRES brothers have established themselves as writers & composers, whose songs are performed by many young talented French artists. On this unique compilation, you will find - for the first time ever on CD - the best songs selected from their albums originally released in 1990 and 1993.
