Enjoy and re-discover the power of a band once hailed as one of the hottest new names of the 70ties - STRETCH. A band that had made a promising start and enjoyed the thrill of a hit single. In November 1975 "Why Did You Do It" got to number 16 in the UK and was nine weeks in the charts. Band members at that time were Elmer Gantry (lead vocals), who named himself after the character in the Burt Lancaster movie and had three single- releases with 'Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera' before joining STRETCH. A talented young guitarist and songwriter simply known as 'Kirby', Steve Emery on bass and last but not least Jim Russel on drums.
Powered by the success of "Elastique" the band kept on making music and released "You Can't Beat Your Brain For Entertainment"(1976) and "Life Blood"(1977), but they did not have the power their debut- album had. By the time they recorded their last album "Forget The Past", only Kirby and Steve Emery remained in the band, hiring session musicians to complete the album. When described as 'pure trash' in a press review, even the two remaining members knew that it would soon be over.
So here is your chance to discover or re-discover "Elastique" by STRETCH - which means STRETCH at its best or 'at full stretch'.
