For your listening pleasure, the glamorous queen of the Parisian noctambule
nightclub scene is now among us at CHOICE OF MUSIC. Yianna Katsoulos is
known for her poetry in motion, which made her popular in
Paris, France and consequently all over Europe with her BMG hits. The
singer/songwriter/actress is also a television host and presenter, a
poêtesse and surtout, drôlesse, voilà une charmante Mademoiselle.
Born in Florida, this polyglotte graduated valedictorian of her class,
and speaking French, Greek and English, started her first rock group
in Massachusetts where she continued her studies in Theatre, Art
Design and Anthropology at Smith College. A Junior Year Abroad brought
her to Paris where, once there, she never turned back, but just
keeps right on globe trotting. She has worked with the producer Gitane
in Japan, writing lyrics for various albums, and she hosted an
haute-couture cultural exchange between the French and Gabonise
government in Central Africa with the clothing designer Jean Doucet.
Globetrotter Yianna is a work of art herself. She has often
been compared to the surrealist Salvador Dali, for her "joie de vivre"
and her "savoir faire" make her a "vrai personnage". Whether she
is out walking with her props, surfing in Biarritz or Hawaii, enjoying
nature or in the recording studio working on music, she is always busy
in her brain - creating poetry, jewelry and musical magic. Mentioned
in Pierre MARAVAL's book on the 1000 most interesting women in Paris,
France, she has also hosted the Lysin Rock Festivals in Switzerland.
This generous and spectacular soul was mostly seen in European television
- singing her TOP 50 hit of the 80's : " Les autres sont jaloux ".
This mega-tube was followed by " Rien n'est pour toujours " and "
Plus fort que les gâteaux ". Her talent on the stage and in front of
the camera led her into a career on French television as "animatrice
par excellence" on the station FR3. With dazzling poetic brillance
and spectacular costumes, she hosted "l'EUROTOP", le MIDEM directly
from Cannes, UNE PÊCHE D'ENFER and SALUT MANU - the live music show
alongside Manu Dibango. For many years, her clever wit, and the often
outrageous costumes created by her high fashion eye made her a precious
gem to watch in the entertainment world.
The fact that she writes lyrics for many European artists, including
Peter Kitsch and Eric D. Clark, has enhanced her brilliant career.
She's a magic girl.
